Reinforced Ceramic Fiber

Tests carried out on reinforced ceramic fiber manufactured by Carbosystem.

Looking at the reinforced ceramic fiber in detail, we can see that its structure is more similar to a composite than to a traditional ceramic fiber, since it consists of two phases. On the one hand, the matrix formed by
Ceramic Fiber filaments, which are alumina silica fibers that contain an 15% addition of organic fibers that act as support for it, for thermal insulation applications. It has low thermal conductivity, good resistance to thermal shock and low heat storage.
On the other hand we find the binder, in this case silicon derivatives and similar materials, with very high thermal performance.
The combination of these two materials in one, offers excellent results, both mechanical and thermal resistance, making it a very versatile material.
